PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 25-year-old woman was killed, and a 24-year-old woman was critically injured early Saturday when their vehicle struck a pillar along West Girard Avenue, Philadelphia police said.
The crash happened around 3:48 a.m. in the 3400 block of West Girard Avenue. Police said a gray Nissan Altima was traveling in the area when it hit a pillar, causing severe damage.
Medics took the driver, a 25-year-old woman, to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:26 a.m., according to police.
The passenger, a 24-year-old woman, was taken to Temple University Hospital and listed in critical condition.
The Crash Investigation Division is handling the case, and police said the circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation.
