According to police, officers responded to a report of a shooting around 10:20 a.m. Sunday at a hotel on the 200 block of South Christopher Columbus Boulevard.
Upon arrival, police say they encountered a 25-year-old woman in the lobby who identified herself as the shooter, and surrendered her firearm to police.
She was taken into custody at the scene.
Officers then located the victim, a 25-year-old man, in a nearby stairway, suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Medics transported the victim to Thomas Jefferson Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.
According to police, a preliminary investigation found that a physical altercation took place inside a ninth-floor hotel room before the shooting.
The female suspect was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation of injuries sustained during the alleged altercation.
Police continue to investigate.
