Young man dies after 26 shots fired in West Philadelphia

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A young man was shot and killed on a West Philadelphia street early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. on the 800 Block of North 49th Street.

Police say the shooter fired at least 26 shots, striking the unidentified 19-year-old male in the chest, arms and legs.



The victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators say narcotics were found at the scene.



Police are working to identify the shooter.
