The first couple arrived at Philadelphia International Airport at 9:40 a.m., and headed back to Washington by mid-afternoon.
The pair also made a trip to Philadelphia earlier this spring to see their granddaughter Maisey Biden's senior art show at Penn.
With the president in town, traffic was backed up as hundreds of proud families headed to Franklin Field to celebrate the class of 2023.
The commencement speaker was Tony-award-winning actress and singer Idina Menzel. She will also receive an honorary Doctor of Arts.
