CDC: Contact with some puppies may make you sick

Monday, September 11, 2017
The government has put out an alert about an outbreak linked to contact with puppies.

The puppies were sold through national pet store chain Petland.

The CDC says some may be carrying the campylobacter bacteria.

Thirty-nine people have gotten sick in the past year and nine were hospitalized.

They're from seven states including Pennsylvania.

Petland has four Pennsylvania stores, including one in Bucks County.

Campylobacter causes diarrhea, vomiting, or a fever.

The CDC says whenever you have contact with dogs or puppies, wash your hands thoroughly.
