Crash causes power lines, broken electrical poles to fall across Rt. 40 in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY (WPVI) -- A truck mishap caused live power lines to fall across Route 40 in Atlantic City on Monday.

Chopper 6 was over the scene near the Atlantic City High School.

Police say a city employee operating a roll-off truck failed to properly offload a dumpster and drove into the wires just after 10 a.m. This also resulted in two broken electrical poles.

Police closed Route 40 in both directions for several hours. The Atlantic City Expressway Exit 2 was also closed.

Luckily, no injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
