PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Nearly 300 people are back in their homes at a Center City hi-rise after they were evacuated on Friday night.

The Philadelphia Fire Department had to evacuate the John Fox Towers on the unit block of S. 22nd Street after reports of a small electrical fire.

Investigators say the small electrical fire in the basement area Friday afternoon knocked the building off the grid.

The seniors had been without power for several hours.

SEPTA buses transported residents to West Philadelphia High School while family members like Fei Clapp waited for her parents to evacuate.

The Red Cross says 174 residents took shelter at West Philadelphia High School.

"I'm pretty nervous. My dad has a lot of issues. It's hard for my dad to go downstairs. They live on the 15th floor," said Clapp.

Luckily, there were no reports of any injuries during the evacuation.
