Person of interest in custody after argument leads to stabbing at SEPTA station

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man has been charged after an argument led to a stabbing at a SEPTA station in Center City Philadelphia, according to police.

It happened around 4:05 a.m. Thursday at the SEPTA mezzanine located at 15th and Market streets.

Police say the suspect, who has been identified as Jason Howard, 33, stabbed the male victim with a knife following an argument.

The victim was stabbed one time in the lower left side of his back.

Police say the victim ran to Dilworth Plaza, where he called 911.

The victim was placed in stable condition at an area hospital.

Both the defendant and victim are unhoused but do not appear to know each other, according to investigators, and were likely in the station for shelter.



Howard is charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime and other related offenses, authorities said.
