The USDA is reminding everyone that most foodborne illness occurs in the home.

And its laid out four simple steps: clean, separate, cook and chill.
1. Keep your hands clean.
2. Use separate tools and plates for preparing meats and fresh produce.

3. Cook all foods thoroughly, and use a thermometer for meats.
4. And chill - don't leave anything at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
Put it on ice, or in the refrigerator.
