Water Main break affects water service in N.E. Philly

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- There was a rush of water in Northeast Philadelphia when a 12 inch main broke at 5:45 Wednesday night.

Chopper 6 was over the scene on Bloomfield Avenue at Verree Road.

It's left 50 customers without water service.

One of them, Chris McKenna.

His sidewalk buckled and collapsed.

Not only did it leave a giant hole but also trapped his car in the driveway, worried the pavement is compromised.

The Philadelphia Water Department expects repairs to last at least into the overnight hours.
