Utah teacher on leave over assignment on sex, drugs

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (WPVI) -- With classes back in session, you expect some back to school paperwork. But in Utah, there's one questionnaire that has parents fuming.

Parents say their teens were quizzed about their criminal and sexual histories as part of an "adult roles" class. The students' answers correlated to a point system.

They were assigned labels from nerd to hopeless and condemned based on their answers to revealing questions about sexuality, drug use, and crime.

Mom, Heather Miller, says her mind was blown.

"Do you smoke pot? Have you ever passed out from drinking? Have you ever tried angel dust? Have you and your girl ever had an abortion? That's when I really was like 'That's like a medical procedure'," she said.

The school district has responded, calling the questions inappropriate and illegal.

The teacher behind the questionnaire is on administrative leave while the school district investigates.
