Relford apologized to the victim's family in a Kentucky courtroom Wednesday.
Relford's mother also apologized.
Then the victim's father took the stand saying he forgave Relford.
The sentencing hearing ended with an embrace of both families.
The judge was forced to call a recess because the moment even brought her to tears.
