Close call: Firefighter rescues woman stuck on railroad tracks

Thursday, October 12, 2017
A New York woman reunited with her hero less than 24 hours after the man saved her life.

Janice Esposito was involved in a car accident in Brookhaven Tuesday night. The crash sent her car onto nearby railroad tracks.

Volunteer firefighter Pete DiPinto heard the crash from his home and ran to the scene.

He managed to pull Esposito from the car just before an oncoming train hit.

"Literally, about five to seven seconds after we got out of the car, the train hit the car," DiPinto said.

Esposito walked away with bumps and bruises.

No one else was hurt.
