Smoke in cockpit forces plane to make emergency landing at JFK

NEW YORK (WPVI) -- Reports of smoke in the cockpit forced a plane to make an emergency landing at New York's JFK Airport.

The United Airlines flight from Washington to Providence, Rhode Island was diverted Tuesday afternoon.

About 50 people were evacuated and bused to a terminal.

Three people received first aid, but were not seriously hurt.
