The social media site is testing a plan to double the length of tweets from 140 characters to 280.
The move was met with the kind of strong and spontaneous reaction fit - for Twitter.
Some are excited and others say it's about time.
The update isn't for everyone yet; they're testing with a small sample of less than 10% of their users.
ABC News asked if one of the most prolific Twitterers, the president, is on the special list. Twitter would not say.
Meanwhile, model Chrissy Teigen tweeted: "Literally my only talent was being able to think of tweets exactly 140 characters long. I don't know if I will be able to alter this to 280."
She added, "For the record, that was 140 characters."
