Traffic fatalities on the rise in the U.S.

Saturday, October 7, 2017
Cars may be getting safer, but the number of traffic deaths in the U.S. is on the rise, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The number of traffic fatalities in 2016 rose nearly six-percent compared to 2015.

Part of the problem is the combination of cheap gasoline and an improving job picture that has resulted in Americans driving more.

The number of fatalities, however, is still very near to the record-low fatal action rate reached in 2014.
