Residents cleaning up after weekend snowfall

RADNOR, Pa. (WPVI) -- Residents across the region spent Monday digging out and getting back to normal after a steady snowfall over the weekend, with roads largely clear by midday and families finding time for winter fun on the holiday.

In Radnor, neighbors were out with shovels, clearing walkways as the cleanup continued.

Liz Brennan said the timing of the storm helped make the work manageable. "It was on a weekend, so my husband can come and help shovel. He did most of this, I'm just cleaning up," Brennan said.

By midday, most major roadways were in good condition. Highways and main arteries were largely dry and clear.

In Warrington, Bucks County, most small residential roads also appeared clear.

In Delaware County, residents said they were able to travel normally.

"The main roads, like Conestoga, are fine. This over here was a little slushy, but for the most part it's all cleaned up," said Bryan Christ of Radnor.

With schools closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, many children had the day off, giving families a chance to enjoy the snow. Sleds came out, and hills were busy with activity as parents and children took advantage of the conditions.

"Out here enjoying the snow day being one with the hill," said Elizabeth Sweet of Wayne.

Her daughter, Lulu Sweet, described one particular run as a bit intimidating.

"We went down the one with the really big hole in it, and it was actually kind of scary," she said.

Forecasters warn that temperatures are expected to drop, raising the risk that damp or wet side roads could freeze.

Drivers are urged to slow down, remain cautious, and allow extra time as colder weather moves in.
