Houston grew up in Burlington, New Jersey, and moved to Philadelphia to pursue a career as a court reporter and now lives in southern Maryland.
When her ruptured aneurysm occurred in 1998, she wound up in the care of Dr. Robert Rosenwasser with Jefferson Health.
She experienced a smaller, second aneurysm in 2006.
Nearly 30 years following the first aneurysm, Houston and Rosenwasser reunited to share stories about the decades gone by and the advancements in neuroscience.
Rosenwasser currently serves as president of the Vickie And Jack Farber Institute For Neuroscience.
One story Houston shared was regarding her 2024 completion of the Women's Philadelphia Triathlon. She was 64 years old at the time.
The Atlas World Records organization recognized Houston for her accomplishments.
