PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- When she's not driving 'The Squidmobile,' Sarah McAnulty is installing vivid murals about other critters that live in Philadelphia.[br /][br /]McAnulty, a proud squid biologist, founded the organization, 'Skype a Scientist,' in 2017. It helps connect scientists from around the world with classrooms, libraries, and more.[br /][br /]Since 2020, McAnulty has devoted time to installing art and murals across Philadelphia. Each is focused on critters such as squids, birds, and insects.[br /][br /]Her latest project is titled, "Our Living City," and it is located at Henry A. Brown Elementary School in Kensington.[br /][br /]It was created in partnership with the school, East Kensington Neighbors Association, and mural artist Nick D'Auria.[br /][br /]Notably, students at Brown Elementary were invited to participate in the creation of the mural. Not only did they vote for an insect to be portrayed, but they also helped paint the mural with a color-by-number system.
