VALLEY FORGE, Pennsylvania (WPVI) -- Since 1888, descendants of revolutionary patriots have convened in Pennsylvania to share stories, host events, and promote education of the nation's founding.

They are known as the Pennsylvania Society of Sons of the Revolution.

Current president, Michael Whelan, has been a member since the age of 10.

Whelan joined fellow member, Peter Stokes, at Valley Forge National Historical Park to share stories and walk the same grounds as their ancestors.

Stokes claims several historical figures as distant relatives. Among them is Peter Muhlenberg, who served as general with George Washington at Valley Forge.

Stokes, who posits he may in fact be named after Muhlenberg, enjoys partaking in historical re-enactments.
