Sister Jean's Kitchen in Atlantic City needs a new home

Tuesday, February 5, 2019
ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey (WPVI) -- A popular soup kitchen in Atlantic City is being forced to vacate because the building it operates out of has been deemed unsafe.

Sister Jean's Kitchen serves up to 300 meals a day to the area's needy.

By Thursday, the charity has to leave the building, leaving those who depend on them without a place to serve those much-needed meals.

The 163-year-old church was heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy back in 2012.

Officials say it has continued to deteriorate over the years, both inside and out.

It's still unclear how and where they will continue to serve those meals. They're hoping someone will come forward and offer them space until they figure it out.
