"We're open the entire historic weekend, with multiple free days throughout the weekend," added Sautner.

Those who timed their visit right were treated to a free lunch nearby on Independence Mall.

More than 150 associates started at 5 a.m., taking seven tons of ingredients and transforming them into deliciousness for Wawa Hoagie Day.

"Since 1992, we've been doing this, giving out 25,000 hoagies today," said Jim Morey of Wawa.

15,000 turkey hoagies went to the noontime giveaway at 5th and Arch.

3,000 hoagies went to the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia and Veterans Multi-Service Center.

7,000 hoagies were handed off to Philabundance.

"We love that Wawa said that let's make sure that Philabundance and its partners in Jersey and in Pennsylvania get access to free hoagies," said Loree Jones Brown, CEO of Philabundance.

Energy was high across the board, from wrapping sandwiches to doing the 'Wobble.'

Eagles star Jason Kelce even Zoomed in to psych up the workers, inspiring gleeful rounds of "Fly Eagles Fly."

The Wawa associates from all over the area love taking part.

"I love hoagie day. It's great to give back to the community, it's great to see everybody come in," said Maureen as she built multiple sandwiches at once.
