Saving with 6abc: Gown deals in South Philadelphia

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- If you're planning a wedding or have another special occasion coming up, you might want to plan on a shopping stop along East Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia later this week. That's where two unique boutiques are teaming up for a big sale.

At the Carolyn Verdi Boutique, you can always find great deals on sample wedding gowns, like a $3400 dress from French designer Cymbeline, selling for $1100. But at this weeks sale, the prices will be even better.

Verdi explains, "All gowns $500 and over will be 10% off. I will have a special group of gowns, which are right here. They will be $200 and $300."

Included in that deal, a number of dresses by Priscilla of Boston.

Verdi explains what prompted the clearance. "I just want to clear the stock out a little bit, and making room for new things."

Next door, at Mia Philadelphia, women who aren't brides-to-be can get deals, too.

Maria Bennett of Mia explains, "For the sale, we are going to introduce all the Fall and some early Spring collections for Mother-of-the-Bride, Mother-of-the-Groom, and we're going to offer that at 10% off."

There are also racks full of special occasion gowns and cocktail dresses on sale for just $100 each.

The joint sale will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sept. 10, 11, and 12, 2014. The stores are located in the 1700 block of East Passyunk Avenue.
