Tuned In to Ingrid Michaelson

August 31, 2008 You don't have to look far to find Ingrid's artistic influences. Her mother is a sculptor and her father, a classical composer, whom introduced Ingrid to the piano at the tender age of four. However it was only after college that Michaelson set off in pursuit of her career.

Ingrid released her current album Girls and Boys on her own label, Cabin 24 Records. After winning several awards for her songwriting abilities, her whimsical melodies caught the ear the music supervisor for the ABC series Grey's Anatomy. During the 2006 season four of Ingrid's songs were featured on Grey's, and one song, "Keep Breathing", was chosen to be used in the climax of the season finale!

The national television exposure propelled Ingrid's career to new heights, being featured on Good Morning America, NPR's Talk of the Nation, and a steady position on iTunes Top 100 artist list.

Tuned In caught up with Ingrid thanks to our friends at WXPN. We sat down with Ingrid between her recording sessions for the NPR show The World Cafe with David Dye. Check out excerpts from the interview, plus performance footage in the media carousel above.

Now YOU are Tuned In to Ingrid Michaelson.
