A school bus and a car collided in South Jersey this afternoon.

The accident happened on Route 40 near Dr. Dennis Forman Drive just before 3:00 p.m.

The bus and a car collided, and then the car hit a tree. The driver of the car was trapped for a time, and rescuers needed the jaws of life to free him.

He was taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries was not released.

There was very little damage to the bus. There were students on the bus. At least one was taken from the scene on a stretcher with what appeared to be a neck or back injury. Many of the students remained on the bus and did not require medical attention.

Officials have not said where the students attend school.
