Former judge facing another DWI charge

SPARTA, N.J. (AP) - February 17, 2008 George R. Korpita was arrested Friday night in Sparta. Authorities said his vehicle was stopped at about 11 p.m. because officers observed him driving erratically on Route 181, near the Jefferson border.

Korpita had served as a judge for Dover, Rockaway Borough and Victory Gardens before stepping down in December 2007. That came after he admitted driving drunk in Roxbury a few weeks earlier and threatening the police officers who arrested him.

Korpita could not be reached for comment on Sunday night.
