Upper Darby Officer shot, listed as critical

Upper Darby police are investigating a shooting incident involving one of their own. An off-duty police officer remains in surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania after being shot early this morning.

The officer, identified as 30-year-old Jerome Brown, was allegedly shot in the vicinity of State Road and Lansdowne Avenue, one block from Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

Officials are unsure if the officer was shot by someone else or the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

The officer remains in critical condition.
