Town officials are considering widening the boardwalk from 12 feet to 20 feet. The Town Council voted Feb. 15 to submit a permit application to the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
State regulators say it's now safer for the town to consider the expansion because of the recent beach replenishment project.
Councilman Tony McClenny says he's hoping the expansion will bring more visitors to Bethany Beach.
