The closed area includes the beach and the dunes and a half mile along the shoreline of the Delaware Bay. The closing begins Saturday.
The action is intended to protect piping plovers, oystercatchers, least terns and migratory shorebirds.
The bayside beach will be closed through September, but the nesting habitat on the ocean side will reopen Sept. 1.
