A Colombian native has been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of a former Newark police officer who died after undergoing a plastic surgery procedure.

Adriana Jaramillo has also been charged with practicing medicine without a license out of her home in Rahway.

The charges stem from the November death of Olga Arroyo, whose death was attributed to an adverse reaction after being injected with silicone and licodaine.

Authorities say Jaramillo may have injected Arroyo with twice the recommended amount of lidocaine for someone of Arroyo's size. In addition, Jaramillo left the house and didn't return after Arroyo began to feel ill.

Arroyo was found unconscious at the home and died a short time later. Jaramillo has not been seen since.

Arroyo had been working as an assistant to Newark Police Director Garry McCarthy.
