Fire kills 1, hurts 1 in Philadelphia

A deadly fire in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia has claimed one life.

The fire hit on the 5100 block of F Street and Roosevelt Boulevard at 10:45 this morning.

When firefighters arrived, they said flames were visible on both the first and second floors of the home. A 24-year-old man had to leap from a second floor window in order to escape.

After the fire was out, firefighters also found a 23-year-old woman dead on the second floor.

The man who jumped was taken to Einstein Medical Center. There was no information about his condition.

The Red Cross has offered money to the family for clothes and is providing lounging as well as emotional and spiritual care.

The surrounding homes sustained minimal damage.
