Wildlife officials are trying to trap a bear that broke into a home in Vernon.

Police say the bruin attacked the garbage in the kitchen.

A police officer fired a shotgun at the bear, but officials don't believe the animal was wounded.

State officials have already trapped three bears in the Lake Wanda neighborhood to condition them to fear and avoid humans. Officials say the traps were set because people were illegally feeding the bears.
