A Delaware man who federal authorities say conspired to deliver marijuana across the country has been sentenced to 76 months in prison and forfeited more than $920,000. Garfield Atkins, of Wilmington, Del., was charged after a semitrailer he was driving was stopped in Dallas County, Iowa.

Investigators found the money inside the trailer.

Atkins pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute marijuana in April 2007. He was accused of conspiring to distribute 1,000 kilograms of marijuana. He was sentenced last week in U.S. District Court in Des Moines.

Federal prosecutors say Atkins was involved in the sale of marijuana in Philadelphia, which was shipped from California. Money from the sales of the marijuana was then transported back across the country to California.
