The City of Brotherly Love gets little love from a ranking of U.S. cities for raising families.

National Geographic calls Philadelphia the next great American city. But they apparently forgot to tell the editors of Best Life magazine.

Best Life published its list of the 100 best and worst places to raise a family. Honolulu, Hawaii, is at the top of the best list.

Philadelphia is pretty close to the worst on the list. No cities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware made the list of the 100 best places in the U.S. to raise a family.

Worst Places to Raise a Family (listed from best to worst)

  1. Springfield, Missouri
  2. Dayton, Ohio
  3. Corpus Christi, Texas
  4. Flint, Michigan
  5. Columbia, South Carolina
  6. Waco, Texas
  7. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  8. Fayetteville, North Carolina
  9. Beaumont, Texas
  10. Clarksville, Tennessee

Best Life magazine's editors said the rankingslooked at crime and divorce rates, student-teacher ratios, school test scores and health statistics to make up the list.
