Authorities say an Amtrak train collided with a car in Louisiana and killed at least two people just hours after it hit another car in Mississippi. The second accident Wednesday involving the southbound train occurred near Independence, Louisiana, about 70 miles north of New Orleans.

The first collision in McComb, Mississippi, sent the car's 19-year-old driver to a hospital.

The identities of the two people killed were not immediately released.

Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliarri said there were no injuries among the 130 passengers and crew aboard the train.
