Then last month, her life was tragically cut short.
"Our father called me and simply said Cheryl was murdered," her sister, Teresa Moss said tearfully.
On Saturday May 17th, Cheryl was visiting her brother-in-law, Santo, at his home in the 19-hundred block of Monmouth Street in Philadelphia's Kensington section.
Neighbors told Cheryl's parents they saw her walk into the house with another man just after nine o'clock.
"The only description we have is that he's a short, Hispanic, male," Teresa said.
A couple hours later, neighbors said they heard screaming and glass breaking. Police were called and said they found nothing unusual.
Two days later, police were called again to investigate. That's when they found the bodies of Cheryl Curran and Santo Sindo, both had been stabbed multiple times. An undetermined amount of cash was missing from Santo.
"I can't even describe how I feel, there's no words," said Cheryl's mother, Margaret Hayes.
So far, no one has been able to give police a better description of the man who walked in the house with Cheryl.
"I think if we catch this monster everybody can breathe a little easier," Margaret said.
They have put together a five-thousand dollar reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
