Phila. Senior Center needs new AC
PHILADELPHIA, PA.; June 9, 2008 Just as summer heats up, the Philadelphia Senior Center says the two main air conditioning units in its South Broad Street building have corroded, and water leaking from them has damaged parts the roof, ceilings, and other areas.
They need to be replaced immediately, so the center has launched a "Beat the Heat" campaign, to raise the $250,000 it will take to replace the units, and make repairs to the water-soaked areas.
Money from the campaign will also be used for heat-related services to senior citizens of Philadelphia, who often rely on the center to be a place where they can wait out heat waves.
For more information on the campaign, call Kory Aversa, development officer, at 215-546-5879, ext. 277.
