Wilkes-Barre soldier killed in Afghanistan

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - July 10, 2008 The father of 29-year-old Douglas Bull of Killeen, Texas, says he was killed Tuesday. The Defense Department hasn't yet publicly released details of Bull's death.

His father, Chris Bull of Wapwallopen, says his son was killed by a roadside bomb.

Douglas Bull was a 1997 graduate of E.L. Meyers High School and enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation. He was recently assigned to an engineering unit based at Fort Hood, Texas.

His father says Bull served one previous overseas tour, in Iraq, which ended in 2006. He left for his tour of duty in Afghanistan less than a month ago. Douglas Bull was married and had a son and a daughter.
