A giant squid destined for the Smithsonian is arriving at Dover Air Force Base. Base spokeswoman Master Sgt. Melissa Phillips says the 24-foot long squid is arriving on a C-17 from an installation in Spain on Friday morning with help from the Navy.

The squid, which will be the largest preserved specimen in the nation, will be displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in the Sant Ocean Hall in Washington, D.C.
