Double amputee runner Oscar Pistorius has failed to make South Africa's team for the Beijing Olympics. Athletics South Africa president Leonard Chuene said Friday that Pistorius would not be on the team.

Pistorius failed to meet the Olympic qualifying time of 45.55 seconds for the 400 meters, attaining a personal best of 46.25.

And Chuene said Pistorius will not be chosen for the 1,600-meter relay team because four other South Africans had faster times.

Pistorius went to the world's highest sports court to win the right to try to qualify for the Olympics, but has acknowledged his training was affected by the long legal battle and that he might have a better chance of qualifying for the 2012 London Games.
