A Delaware County police officer was hurt Wednesday night by a lightning bolt that hit the fire house he was visiting. Police say 22-year old Bethel Township officer John Carpenter stopped by the Bethel Fire Company on Faulk Road.

At 7:30 p.m. Carpenter was standing in the open bay door when lightning hit the building, traveled down the door frame, and knocked the officer off his feet. He was transferred to Crozer Chester Medical Center for treatment. Doctors say Carpenter was conscious and responsive.
