Classic towns of Greater Philadelphia

July 28, 2008 It's a new designation by the Regional Planning Commission, designed to increase tourism in 11 communities deemed great places to live, work, and play.

Ben Franklin signed a special declaration at Independence Mall today, with representatives and mayors from the towns.

The inaugural Classic Towns are listed as follows:

    Pennsylvania
    Ambler
    Bristol Borough
    Doylestown Borough
    Lansdowne
    Media
    West Chester

    Philadelphia
    Manayunk
    Overbrook Farms

    New Jersey
    Collingswood
    Haddon Heights
    Riverton
