In Austria, some are turning to a psychologist and a counselor set up specifically for helping people deal with their emotions when love goes wrong.
For a little over $100 a session, patients meet face-to-face with either psychologist Birgit Maurer or counselor Auguste Storkan to find a way out of their personal predicament.
Therapies are individualized and vary in length.
Maurer and Storkan say their aim is to "destigmatize" lovesickness and get people talking about their problems, regardless of their age or sexual orientation.
They say they want to highlight the fact that "lovesickness doesn't just affect teenagers."
The practice has been open for several months and recently launched a Web site.
