Barack Obama has raised more than twice as much as John McCain from donors in New Jersey. The Democratic presidential candidate continues to score big on college campuses, with contributions flowing from Princeton and Rutgers universities.

An analysis by The Star-Ledger of Newark finds faculty, students and staff at Princeton contributed $72,595 to Obama. The Democrat received nearly $40,000 from those with ties to Rutgers.

Princeton residents are major contributors to both Obama and McCain, donating more than $600,000 to the candidates.

Federal Election Commission reports show McCain raised $2.5 million in New Jersey by the end of June. The Democrat amassed nearly $5.9 million.
