It happened in the 100 block of Penn Street in Lansdale Saturday night.
Police say the boy was playing with a group of friends and a German shepherd when the dog bit the boy in the face.
The boy was flown to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.
The dog's owner, who spoke to Action News off-camera, says the dog had a ball in its mouth and bit the boy when he tried to take it away.
