Delaware Natural Resources police are investigating a collision between a boat and a personal watercraft that killed a man and injured a woman. Sgt. Gregory Rhodes says the 42-year-old man who was operating the watercraft was killed in the collision about 4 p.m. Monday near Massey's Landing. A woman riding with the man suffered a broken hip and was flown to Christiana Hospital in critical condition.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Police say the preliminary investigation shows the watercraft was traveling into the Indian River Bay when it hit the boat head-on. No one on the boat was injured.

Rhodes says both vessels will be examined to learn how the accident happened.
