A Democratic official close to Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine says Barack Obama has told Kaine that he's not his choice to be the Democratic vice presidential nominee. The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he's not authorized to discuss the development, says the Virginia governor told associates about Obama's decision on Friday. Obama will claim the nomination at the Democratic convention that begins Monday.

Kaine arrived in Denver for the convention Friday. The other candidates thought to be in the running include Delaware Sen. Joe Biden, Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh, Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Texas Rep. Chet Edwards.
