Man to be sentenced in Kutztown murder

READING, Pa. (AP) - August 25, 2008 Timothy Gearhart, of Allentown, was one of three men charged with murder in the death of 19-year-old Kyle Quinn, a Kutztown University sophomore, who police say was attacked at random.

Gearhart pleaded guilty Aug. 6 to third-degree murder. He admitted he struck Quinn in the head with a large wooden chair leg on Main Street a few blocks from campus last Sept. 7.

Gearhart faces a maximum sentence of 30 to 60 years in prison when he is sentenced as part of a plea deal Monday in Berks County Court.

Two brothers from Allentown, Kenneth and Terry Kline, are charged with third-degree murder in the attack. Their trial is scheduled to begin in November.
