Remembering the Titans

for the August 29 Game of the Week Bart Szarko and his Titans of Central Bucks South are looking to redeem themselves for their showing last year on the 6abc Game of the Week.

They were riding high going into the District 1 PIAA playoffs with an undefeated season.

That's right, un-de-feat-ed.

It all began last year with a game that a season later would be the 6abc Game of the Week opener. The Titans stormed into Council Rock South's home turf and walked out with their arms raised in a 34-24 contest.

The following two weeks, the Titans faced their family members of Central Bucks West and East.

CB South was able to take a commanding presence and overpowered CB West 48-10.

One week later, CB East put up a fight against their southern counterparts, but Szarko's squad kept it in the high 30s, and left with a 38-21 win.

The games within the next fortnight saw two teams able to conjure up almost the same scores against the Titans, scores that were not enough to take down South. Pennsbury went down 27-13, Bensalem followed 32-12.

Then on October 5, 2007, Central Bucks South went toe to toe with their toughest opponent. The Galloping Ghosts of Abington were not willing to be associated with the other teams that fell to the Titans. They gave CB South everything they had, but still Szarko's players did not flinch. It was close, but still a victory, as the Titans won the game 49-45.

The Neshaminy Redskins were coming into their game against CB South undefeated, as well. Which team would buckle under the pressure on that October night? Not the Titans. Though, it was by no means a one-sided affair, Neshaminy did not have enough in them that night to keep their undefeated streak alive, but the same could not be said for Central Bucks. The Titans won 26-21 and, indeed, kept their perfect season intact.

After two close games, Central Bucks South wanted to show the world that they were not out of steam. On October 19, 2007, there was no doubt in anybody's mind that the Titan train was still on the winning tracks. A 55-12 victory over Truman cemented the Titan's standing in the league and a follow-up 18-6 win over Pennridge added the exclamation point.

Fellow Game of the Week team North Penn, who weeks earlier shutout Souderton live on 6abc.com, could not do the same against Central Bucks South, as they went down 41-27.

Haverford Township tried to put a challenge to the 10-0 Titans, but could only garner 7 to the CB South's 34 in the first round of the playoffs.

The amazing undefeated season of the Titans would come to end during the November 16, 2007 6abc.com Game of the Week. Though, they were able to attain 38 points, it was not enough as the Whippets of Downingtown West tarnished the perfect season with their score of 45.

However, the Titans left the regular season undefeated and are ready to repeat that same feat this year. Their vision begins to take shape this Friday night on the Second Season Opener of the 6abc.com Game of the Week.

Coach Szarko and his players are ready to make their Game of the Week record 1-1. With a win over Council Rock South, they will do just that.

The Titans are ready to go back to the playoffs undefeated.

The Titans are ready to walk out of the Game of the Week winners.

The Titans are ready to seize the moment.
