Hanna hits Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - September 6, 2008 - There were sandbags outside Trump Plaza Casino Saturday night, but there was little reason for them. Hanna did not cast her fury this way.

In fact, it was a fairly pleasant night on Atlantic City's boardwalk where even the wind seemed to die down. The storm did kick up the surf and some tried to take a dip; Atlantic City police put a quick end to it

There were some big puddles, but there did not seem to be any flooding, even at high tide.

During breaks in the rain, people came out to get a good look at Hanna.

"I love watching the water to see how big it gets, the waves and all. It's a pleasure," said Dean Balard, of Somers Point, N.J.

"Watching the water is cool, seeing it come over the jetties, hit the rocks. It's different, kind of an adrenaline rush. It's neat, I like it." said John Kohn of Somers Point, N.J.

The surf slammed into the jetties and under the boardwalk, but there has been no reported damage.

However, it is likely there will be some beach erosion when this is all over.
